Aragonese castle. Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie
The Sun Path led me to a small Church with a rather complicated name - Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie o Dell Ortodonico (on the map). The structure hangs above the Eastern extremity of the island, which has another name - the Punta della Madonna (Madonna on the Cape).

When the temple was founded is unknown, history tells only that they enjoyed the community of the Greek fishermen. By construction, vaulted ceilings and domes of the structure can be classified as Romanesque architecture, common in the 11-12 century. In documents recorded that in the early 16th century the Church was expanded through the efforts of Donna noble Constance of Carretta.

Temple after the destruction of the castle artillery of the British squadron in 1810 was abandoned and restored only recently. So no antiquities in it, instead of the traditional images of the walls are decorated with cheerful paintings of artist Clementine Petroni, whose works we have already met in the House of the Sun.

From antiquity to present is that a small body, and he, judging by the white wire, with electric compressor instead of a bellows.

to the Right of the Church, over the high cliff there is a semicircular platform.

From which you can admire the Islands of vivara and Procida.

To bridge (Ponte di Ischia), this was the only ladder that you could climb into the castle.

From the stairs is almost nothing left, but preserved fortification walls and a small sentry turret (on the map), guarding the entrance to the castle. On the court, serving for the mounting of the guns as the remains of the furnace intended to heat cannonballs.

standing on the Terrace of olive trees, you can see the Romanesque arches at the top.
