Piazza Matteotti, Forio
A block from the Basilica of Loreto, the shopping street of Francesco Regine ( Corso Avvocato Francesco Regine) widens to form an elongated square that looks more like a green boulevard (on the map).
The square is named after the lawyer and anti-fascist Giacomo Matteotti, who was murdered by nationalists in 1924.
This is the gastronomic center of Forio, the square is surrounded by numerous cafes and restaurants.
Here you can taste the island's signature dish - iskitan rabbit with tomatoes, and of course, as in any seaside town, a significant part of the menu consists of fish and seafood dishes.
Digestion is facilitated by pleasant soft music performed by a string and wind Duo.
Among drinks, the island is famous for its lemon and nut liqueurs, which can also be tasted on the square.
The colorful shop "U Nikola" presents a full range of products of local farmers.
The local taralli cookie is very popular.
